Garden 354 Dale Earnhardt

Posted By Brittany Perez, Monday, April 21, 2014
CB Smith Park 900 N. Flamingo Rd., Pembroke Pines, FL 33028

Dale Earnhardt is one of the most famous American NASCAR drivers of all time. During his career, he won a total of 76 races including the Daytona 500, one of the most prestigious NASCAR races. Earnhardt achieved much success at a very early age as he began racing in local tracks at the age of 15. His passion for racing was so great that he dropped out of school in the ninth grade in order to continue doing what he loved. He continues to race and work in a shop as a mechanic. Over the course of his lifetime, he earned numerous awards including seven Winston Cup championships and Rookie of the Year. However, his main accomplishment was breaking the record of racecar driver earnings with $30 million. I chose to plant the garden in honor of Dale at CB Smith Park in Pembroke Pines. CB Smith park is a place where families and children gather to participate in outdoor activities such as BBQing, canoeing, kayaking, playing sports, fishing, etc. I thought this would be a unique place to plant this garden because this park is a place where children come to be active and explore their interests in extra curricular activities. Dale Earnhardt was someone who was motivated to pursue his love for a hobby at a very young age. He is the perfect example to growing kids how important it is to explore interests and go after it, whether it be a sport or other extracurricular activity. It is important for kids to be active, creative, and engaging. Hopefully this garden can grow and spread awareness to this kids that come across it in the weeks to come.
