Addison Mizner

Posted By Chayangkoon Chokkijkarn, Tuesday, April 22, 2014

My name is Chayangkoon Chokkijkarn. This spring semester, I am currently enrolling an Artistic expression class, IDS 3336 with Steven Schoen at Florida International University. In addition, this course consists of an individual project called “FLOR500”.  The project requires each student to plant the native wildflower seeds that were given during the class period at different assigning locations. More importantly, my garden was dedicated to Addison Mizner (1872-1933), an Architect. More fundamentally, the reason why I dedicated these native wildflower seeds to Garden 478 is that I would like to thanks and express a sense of appreciation to Addison Mizner’s contribution that he introduced the Mediterranean Revival style to Palm Beach County which continues to represent the beauty of its aesthetic. On top of that, this project not only creates a better community environment, but also gives awareness toward environment in the global society. Indeed, this project substantially offers a wonderful opportunity for students to develop skills in art, history, and nature. The students also have a chance to develop communication skills with other people in effective ways. They also have a chance to discover new experiences by doing activity that they have never done before. Lastly, this project has a profound benefit to students that it makes students become more mindful to the surrounding environment.
