Bill France Jr, also known as Bill Jr or Little Bill is known for his passion of NASCAR racing and was the CEO of NASCAR from 1972 to the year 2000. Bill took the NASCAR sport from just a south florida sport to a nationwide sport. Bill took over the sport after his father Bill France Sr in 1972. Before becoming the CEO of NASCAR Bill was working on race tracks in Daytona. Bill was also into off road motorcycles and while in Daytona he would enter some motorcross races in the 1960s. Then in the 70s the sport became more famous and later turned into a big event and now there is a whole in Daytona dedicated to off road motorcycle racing. When Bill Jr took over NASCAR after his father he continued the legacy and not just that but made it a worldwide sport. Over the years he added more and more popularity to the Daytona 500, which is a NASCAR race in which cars go around for 500 laps, and the Daytona 200, which is the same race just with motorcycles and is only 200 laps. By the year 2000 the sport of NASCAR was worldwide and that was also the time when Bill Jr stepped down as CEO and has his son takeover, Brian France. This garden is dedicated to Bill France because of the impact that he had in Florida, NASCAR and the world of sports. Thank you Bill for the great sport of NASCAR.
