About the Artist

I live on Gulf of Mexico in the Florida Panhandle. Nature is my inspiration in life as well as art. Lush textures, dramatic brushwork and vivid colors characterize my work. I am always looking for innovative ways to expand and enhance my creative processes. I am constantly exploring nontraditional techniques. To create interest I often incorporate 3 dimensional objects into my paintings.

I am inspired by the unique and the unusual and strive for my artwork to be just that. I am a dimensional mixed media artist who is inspired by nature, primarily working in acrylics and encaustics.

Artist's Statement

Yucca Filamentosa grows wild on Mexico Beach in the Florida Panhandle and I have been photographing it for years, making this the perfect choice for the Flor500 project.

Acrylic, Mixed Media and Encaustic work - Found, aged and recycled objects are of great interest to me in both a respect for the environment and finding different ways to preserve objects that would have otherwise been discarded.

Photo-Encaustic work – In my photography, I take a close up view of a subject to find abstract shapes and composition. I preserve the photo in beeswax and enhance it with oil paints, oil pastel and a variety of other media.
