David Montgomery," FLOR 158: Standingcypress (lpomopsis rubra)”, video, 1920 x 1080, 2013. (CC)

About the Artist

David Montgomery spent his youth in the woods, on riverbanks, and and at the seashore searching. He was captivated by animation on seeing "Fantasia” in a theater. Video games also enabled him to explore fantastic worlds populated by mythological beings. His art practice is a synthesis of these influences having come full circle to an appreciation of the mythic beauty in our own backyards.

Artist's Statement

My video pieces emphasize the genetic variation within species through successive images of the patterns they exhibit.
