About the Artist Patricia is
a native of Pensacola, left home for Colorado and a career in Foster Care and
Adoption. She discovered painting as an
adult when she returned to the Gulf Coast.
Now living in Gulf Breeze she has become serious about art, and is on
the board of the Artel Gallery in Pensacola.
| Artist's Statement While my
career was fulfilling, it was extremely stressful. Fortunately, an artist who created an agency where
I was employed provided lessons in watercolor for staff as for stress relief. It was at this point I discovered real joy
and purpose for the rest of my life. I
am inspired by nature particularly flowers and the waters, colors and light of
the gulf.

Five hundred Florida artists are sought to create art for FLOR500, a participatory art, nature, and history project that marks the importance of the moment when the history of Florida changed forever and gives a glimpse of what its landscape was like 500 years ago. Developed by Xavier Cortada, director and artist-in-residence of FIU’s College of Architecture + The Arts’ Office of Engaged Creativity, the project commemorates Florida’s quincentenary in 2013.
