Developed by Xavier Cortada, director and artist-in-residence of FIU’s College of Architecture + The Arts’ Office of Engaged Creativity, the project commemorates Florida’s quincentenary in 2013.

About the Artist

Since Cailtin Pautler was born and raised in Tampa, she has a deep-rooted love for natural Florida wildlife. She received her BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design with a major in painting and a minor in ceramics. She is planning on continuing her education with a Masters of Fine Art in the next year. 





Artist's Statement

"[...]when the eye sees something beautiful, the hand wants to draw it," Elaine Scarry says in her book 'On Beauty and Being Just'. Being surrounded by Florida's natural flowers and overall beauty, one cannot help but try to replicate these little wonders in any means possible.
