About the Artist

Lana Tessler is a St. Cloud artist and school teacher, specializing in watercolor and creative paper mediums and figurative interpretations of natural life and fantastic and whimsical themes. She also works on reproductions of medieval art in period appropriate materials.

Artist Statement

The Florida Alicia is such a playful, sunny flower that I wanted to include some of that whimsy in this piece.  I played with color, texture, and form, allowing the flower and stem's shape determine the structure of the background and letting the color - the flower's most notable feature - pop from the darkness.
