About the Artist Val Lally has been painting in watercolors for about 10 years. She has been in numerous juried art shows and has won several prestigious awards. Although she paints a variety of subject matter, Val enjoys painting flowers the most!
| Artist's Statement Val feels that everyone has their special gift to share with the world. She feels that her gift is to capture the beauty that is all around us with her camera and then put her interpretation of that wonder on canvas. What is truly gratifying to Val is when someone tells her that her artwork has lifted their spirits or has made them smile. That, she notes, is the greatest gift of all!

Five hundred Florida artists are sought to create art for FLOR500, a participatory art, nature, and history project that marks the importance of the moment when the history of Florida changed forever and gives a glimpse of what its landscape was like 500 years ago. Developed by Xavier Cortada, director and artist-in-residence of FIU’s College of Architecture + The Arts’ Office of Engaged Creativity, the project commemorates Florida’s quincentenary in 2013.
