Developed by Xavier Cortada, director and artist-in-residence of FIU’s College of Architecture + The Arts’ Office of Engaged Creativity, the project commemorates Florida’s quincentenary in 2013.

About the Artist

My Paintings are in collections across the united states and Europe. I am Currently doing a traveling museum exhibition ; "Prelude to the 1940's." My interest has always been historical subject matter which convey the fashion and mood of vintage florida 1920's through the 1950's. My collection of vintage memorabilia has served as a constant inspiration for my paintings. 

 

 

 

Artist's Statement

The Art nouveau style of Alfons Mucha inspired me to create my Flo 500
painting. Evelyn Nesbit turn of the centuries most popular model wears the Red Spiderling in her flowing hair. SInce I am a figurative artist finding the right model for the crimson and pink flower was essential. Meeting by chance Muchas great grand daughter made this project magical.
