By 1885, he was publishing magazines touting the beauty of Pensacola and recording Pensacola’s citizens, architecture, and businesses. He was elected mayor of Pensacola in 1905 and won re-election in 1907. In recognition of his dedication to the city, the citizens of Pensacola raised money to purchase a 16' cast iron fountain that still resides in Plaza Ferdinand.
