FLOR500, Garden 139 Ray Charles Robinson, Musician (1930–2004) Ray Charles Robinson was born in Albany, Georgia. His parents moved the family to Greenville, Florida when he was an infant. Blind by the age of seven, he learned to play piano at the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind in St. Augustine. As a youth, he played at clubs in Tallahassee. His music blended gospel, pop, country, R&B and jazz into one sound. He had many hit records during the 1950s and 1960s.
