FLOR500, Garden 196 Emily Lloyd Wilson, Historian and Librarian (ca. 1868–1960) In 1901, Emily Lloyd Wilson came to St. Augustine from her birthplace of Pennsylvania to experience the artist’s colony at the Ponce de Leon Hotel. She bought a home in St. Augustine and spent close to sixty winters there. She dived into local history and acquired copies of maps, documents, and Spanish records for the library at the St. Augustine Historical Society. The collections she amassed were very helpful as the city focused more on its colonial heritage.
