FLOR500, Garden 27 Leonard Destin, Founder of Destin (1813–1884) Destin was born in Connecticut into a seafaring family. In the 1830s, his family sailed to Florida looking for new fishing grounds. Destin sailed around Florida, finally settling at the inlet called East Pass. In time, his home site became known as Destin and he became known as the village father.

Leonard Destin, Founder of Destin 

(1813–1884)

Destin was born in Connecticut into a seafaring family. In the 1830s, his family sailed to Florida looking for new fishing grounds.
