He taught at religious schools in North Carolina and California before coming to the area west of Brooks’ Landing to serve local children and families as a teacher and pastor. The township of Mary Esther, Florida, is established on the site of his home and named after his two daughters, Mary and Esther.

John Newton, Minister, Educator
