FLOR500, Garden 91 Lassie Goodbread Black, Community Activist (1904–1996) Lassie Goodbread Black was the first woman to enroll in the University of Florida, and later earned a Master’s of Education degree from Emory University. She became a home demonstration agent in Columbia County, helped to establish a city recreation council and the Lake City Garden Club. In 1984, the Lake City Chamber of Commerce honored her for her 50 years of community service.

Lassie Goodbread Black, Community Activist

Lassie Goodbread Black was the first woman to enroll in the University of Florida, and later earned a Master’s of Education degree from Emory University.
