FLOR500, Garden 98 Dr. Merritt Ryals Clements, Physician (1911–1988) Dr. Clements was born in Greenville, Florida. He graduated from Emory Medical School and established a medical practice in Tallahassee. Dr. Clements served in the Navy during World War II. After the war, he worked at Florida A&M University Hospital, and was a founder of the cancer clinic there. He also helped found Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. He was the first physician in the area to have an integrated waiting room.
