Francisco Pellicer, Community Leader (ca. 1747–1820) He was one of the original Minorcan colonists at the Andrew Turnbull colony of New Smyrna. In 1777, he led other colonists to St. Augustine to escape the terrible conditions of the colony. He settled in St. Augustine and worked as a carpenter. Eventually, he moved his family to a farm south of town near the Mantanzas River. Today, Pellicer Creek is named after him. FLOR500, Garden 339
