FLOR500, Garden 394 William Henry Brown, Trading Post Owner (1856–1927) Born in Bristol, England, Brown settled in Florida around 1870 and operated Brown’s Boat Landing trading post in the Big Cypress Swamp from 1896 until 1909. Brown became friends with the local people and traded much needed supplies. As the only trading post in the region, it was indispensable to the Seminoles.
