Buchan served for 21 years and was instrumental in having a paved road connecting Englewood with Sarasota. He enabled Sarasota County to acquire beachfront property that is now Blind Pass Park at no cost. He built a 250-foot dock on Lemon Bay and all supplies came into Englewood at Buchan’s Landing.
