Afterwards, on a hidden island in the Everglades, Chakaika felt he and his people were safe, but an early morning attack by Colonel William S. Harney proved fatal. Today the island is known as Yatcasask in Mikulski, or “Hanging People” in English, because of Harney’s display of the enemy’s bodies after his victory.
