Morris Lapidus, Architect

(19022001)

During the 1950s and early 1960s, Morris Lapidus designed the Fontainebleau, the Eden Roc, and the Americana hotels, and redesigned Lincoln Road into a pedestrian mall. His extravagant, over-the-top hotels helped make Miami Beach into a glamorous, world-famous resort. In 2012, the Florida Chapter of the American Institute of Architects ranked the Fontainebleau first on its list, Florida Architecture: 100 Years.100 Places.
