500 historic figures (museums, schools and libraries) | Flower Force (individual homes)

Xavier Cortada, "FLOR500: Florida Library Association planting drawing,” 80 drawings (charcoal on board) and Florida native wildflower seeds inside plastic bags on wall, 2012.

Flower Force
Flower Force is designed to mobilize individuals to return developed spaces to nature.  By planting native wildflowers in their yards, participants of this eco-art project beautify their homes and neighborhoods and create islands of natural habitats for local fauna.

Cortada's charcoal drawings will be tiled and transformed into living gardens: The art work is to be cut into pieces, exhibited on a grid and  distributed along with native wildflower seeds to participants.

Participants will plant the wildflower seeds at home or in the community, dedicating their garden to someone who has inspired them.  Aftwerwards, they will upload photos of their garden online.
