FLOR500, Garden 162 Alverdo Adair Geitgey, Land Developer (1864–1932) Born in Ohio in 1864, Geitgey achieved prosperity working in the natural gas business. He spent winters in north Florida, and decided to purchase more than 12,000 acres in Baker County. In 1916, he relocated to Glen St. Mary and started developing the town. As the area’s first land developer, he invested in real estate and agriculture.
